Banana Milk Matcha Latte

Banana Milk Matcha Latte is a game changer. Made with blended ripe banana and plant-based milk, it’s the perfect balance of earthy matcha and smooth banana goodness.

Ingredients

Banana Milk

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (oat, almond, or cashew, etc.)
  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup or sweetener of choice (I used homemade coconut syrup)
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Matcha

  • 1-2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder (honestly, put as much as you like) (this is a loose guide)
  • 2–3 tbsp hot water (not boiling)

Notes:

Customize for Your Needs
This recipe is completely customizable. Swap in different fruit or ingredients, especially if you want to change the vibe of the milk and or flavor profile of the matcha

High Quality Matcha

Whenever making matcha to truly get the best out of the drink, you should be using real ceremonial grade matcha because this is not only going to give you the best nutritional benefits but taste and overall experience

Homemade Plant Milk: I always recommend using homemade plant milk when you can — it’s fresher, more flavorful, and free of additives. I’ve got simple recipes on the blog to make your own oat, almond, or cashew milk from scratch!

Sweetener Tip
I made a homemade coconut syrup for this and it added such a warm, rich layer of flavor—so good! But feel free to use any sweetener you love like maple syrup, agave or date syrup etc

Step by Step Instructions

Banana Milk

Add all ingredients to a blender.

Blend on high until smooth, creamy, and frothy.

Taste and adjust sweetness or spices as needed.

Set aside (or strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture, if desired).

💡 Tip: Use a very ripe banana for the best natural sweetness.

Matcha

Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove clumps.

Add the hot water and whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or electric frother until smooth and slightly frothy.

Combine & Serve

Iced Version: Fill a glass with ice, pour in the banana milk, and slowly top with the whisked matcha. Enjoy the layered look or give it a swirl.

Hot Version: Gently warm the banana milk (do not boil), pour into a mug, and stir in the matcha mixture.

Toppings: cinnamon, extra matcha powder, or milk foam etc for a little extra flair!

Pro Tips:

  • Always sift your matcha for smoothness

  • Use water at around 170–175°F (not boiling!) to avoid bitterness

  • Whisk thoroughly to dissolve matcha before adding milk
