Sea moss, a nutrient-rich sea vegetable packed with 92 of the 102 minerals your body needs, is a versatile superfood known for boosting immunity, digestion, and overall wellness. Purple sea moss, with its unique antioxidants, blends into a gel perfect for smoothies, teas, and more.

  • 1 cup dried sea moss ( I had purple as there are other kinds of sea moss)
  • 4–5 cups filtered water (for soaking and blending)

DIRECTIONS:

Rinse the Sea Moss: Place the dried purple sea moss in a large bowl and rinse thoroughly under cool water. Remove any sand, debris, or unwanted particles.

Soak the Sea Moss: Transfer the rinsed sea moss to a clean bowl and cover it with filtered water. Let it soak for 12–24 hours at room temperature. The sea moss will expand, become softer, and double or triple in size.

Blend into a Gel: Drain the soaked sea moss. Add the sea moss to a blender with 1–2 cups of water. Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust the water amount for desired consistency.

Store the Gel: Pour the gel into a clean glass jar or container. Refrigerate and use within 3–4 weeks.

NOTES:

  • Soaking Tips:
The soaking water may have a mild ocean scent and can be used for blending to preserve nutrients. However, if the scent is too strong for your liking, use fresh filtered water instead.
  • Freezing Option:
You can freeze sea moss gel in ice cube trays for convenient portioning. Once frozen, transfer the cubes to a freezer-safe bag and use them within 3–6 months.
  • Serving Suggestions:
Use 1–2 tablespoons daily in smoothies, teas, soups, or as a natural thickener in recipes. Sea moss gel is also great for skin and hair as a mask!
  • Nutritional Benefits:
Purple sea moss is rich in minerals, including iodine, magnesium, and potassium, making it excellent for supporting thyroid health, immunity, and overall wellness.
  • Quality Check:
High-quality sea moss should have a natural sea scent, not an overpowering chemical odor. Always purchase from a trusted source to ensure it’s wildcrafted and free of additives.
